Born in Mountain View and raised in Sonoma County, California, Kai Watanabe discovered his love for photography at the age of six. In January 2020, he started sharing his work on Instagram, and his profile has since grown to over 50,000 followers.

Kai’s initial interest in video editing took shape during middle school, where he created videos for fun and for school projects. By 2021, he began posting reels on Instagram, and his passion soon evolved into filmmaking, which has become his main source of work.

In the summer of 2021, Kai moved to Ehime Prefecture in Japan for family reasons. After six months of part-time work, he enrolled in a vocational college in Kyoto to study UI/UX design, hoping to expand his creative skills. Finding the curriculum uninspiring, he decided to leave and focus on freelancing.

Kai has been drawn to art and music since he was a child, always finding joy in making things. That passion has stayed with him, growing and evolving over the years. Now working as a freelance creator, he’s dedicated to exploring new ideas and pushing the boundaries of his craft.
